Optimal Twist

For optimal performance in both helicopter and propeller modes, the blades must twist into the optimal twist distribution. Figure 1 gives the optimal twist, as reported in Reference [1].

One point of emphasis: the optimal twist is aerodynamic twist. This is not exactly the same as structural twist. However, for this preliminary design, aerodynamic twist and structural twist can be taken to be equivalent.
